The Booths are Back!!
- The journey goes full circle
Dear Trail Runners, Walkers, friends and family,
After 2 years and 2 months away, the Booths are returning to the KZNTR family – and it feels like coming home. Our time away has been a season of change: moving to the Lowveld, starting new businesses and helping our boys settle into a new school and community. We have grown in many ways, but our hearts have always been connected to the trails and to you.
While it felt like we never truly left, working with the KZNTR team again during the K2C Challenge reminded us of the magic that happens when you work alongside people you’ve shared 14 years of history with. The trust, the understanding and the shared vision – those things are not just rare – they are irreplaceable.
We are also incredibly excited to welcome Lauren’s father, Colin Boyes, as a new shareholder. Many of you know Colin from Funky Pants, and now he’s stepping into a more permanent role with the Dream Team.
Our thanks go to Brian for his custodianship, to Sanele, Dane, and the team for flying the KZNTR flag with dedication and pride, and to you – the trail community – for your unwavering support.
While we are not moving back to KZN, we will be at a selection of races – starting with the uMngeni River Run this Sunday 17 August, now officially billed as The Reunion Race. We can’t wait to see familiar faces, meet those who’ve joined the KZNTR community since we’ve been away and make more trail memories together.
Here’s to the next chapter.
Here’s to the trails.
Here’s to KZNTR!
See you on the trails,
Andrew, Lauren, and the KZNTR Team
No frills, just Pure Trail at Umngeni River Run
uMngeni River Run has evolved numerous times over its 15year history – from its origins along the Dusi River, to Maweni-Faulklands-Cumberland Nature Reserve, and now Wessa & Hilton College. We have tested ideas and pushed limits at this race, and it is always where you can find KZNTR at its very best – no frills, no fuss. Just pure trails, personal challenges and the beauty of nature.
As the race steeped in the most KZNTR history, it is only fitting that Andrew & Lauren Booth return to the company just in time for URR, making the next chapter in its history “The Reunion”.
URR fills a niche for those aiming for an ultra-distance on the trails, a long training run if you taking on a 100miler later in the year, or just looking for a fantastic morning pushing themselves. The event includes two ultra-distances (75km & 50km) as well as a new 36km course, a night running element on the 75km and traverses the best of WESSA and Hilton College.
There are also the classic half-marathon, 12km & 6km courses available.
Expect a proper challenge, with big drops into the valley and lung-busting climbs out, but the stunning scenery is the cherry on top!

Early Drakensberg Trail Escape Before the Year-End Rush
Two-thirds of the year gone already, and if we don’t plan ahead it will be Boxing Day before we know it!
An early festive break in the Drakensberg sounds like just the thing – taking away from the hustle before that final push and soaking up the serenity of the Northern Berg. Think expansive grasslands brushing against Sterkfontein Dam, pockets of shady forest and mountain ridgelines that carved against the backdrop of the Drakensberg range.
And when the sun dips? a night sky bursting with stars.
This will be our second time back at The Border Post and final Premiere event of the year – let’s wrap things up in style with epic trails, great meomories and a camera roll full of pics.
