Venue: aha Alpine Heath Resort and Conference Center, Northern Drakensberg, Bergville.

From Durban (ETA 3hr 10min):

  • Travel Northbound on the N3.
  • Take Exit 194 and turn left onto R74 and follow for ~72km.
  • Turn left at the “Alpine Health” Signpost and follow for ~7.3km.
  •  Turn right and after 4.5km, turn right again and follow for ~4.3km to reach aha Alpine Resort.
From Johannesburg (ETA 3hr 36min):
  • Travel Southbound on the N3 for ~258km.
  • Use the left lane to get to the Harrismith/Bethlehem ramp to the N5.
  • Turn left after 400m onto the R74 and follow for ~44.6km.
  • Turn right at the “Alpine Health” Signpost and follow for ~7.3km.
  •  Turn right and after 4.5km, turn right again and follow for ~4.3km to reach aha Alpine Resort.

Alpine Heath

Alpine Heath is a great family destination sporting a magnificent Drakensberg backdrop. It houses a unique village market selling both groceries and trinkets and has the Gruyéres Restaurant and Pizza Inferno Pizzeria for your choice in dining. Greenfire Lodge

1000-hectare National Heritage Site that has to be seen to be appreciated. At 1800 meters above sea level and lies in the shadow of the greater Drakensberg peaks. With dramatic waterfalls, deep valleys, and high peaks housing Cape Vultures, Eland and many other animal and bird species as well as lush indigenous forests and hidden San Rock Art, this venue provides the ideal terrain for hiking, climbing, exploring, mountain biking, horse riding, or simply taking in the views. 

Accommodation is in Canadian styled log cabins, each en-suite. Twin rooms all have their own fireplace. A communal lounge, dining area, and surround veranda overlooks the Royal Natal National Park and breathtaking Amphitheater.
