Ingeli – Mountain Weekend & new date, 1st Ranger Patrol & March looking hopeful

Ingeli Mountain Weekend
Come and explore with us......

The extended Level 3 threw yet another curveball our way as we had hoped to take on the new year with momentum and energy, so we are looking at new ways of getting onto the trail.

We have met with our partners at ANEW Hotels & Resorts and are very excited to announce:

1. Ingeli Mountain Marathon 2021 moves to 31 July 2021
AND
2. We will be hosting a casual Mountain Weekend at Ingeli on the original dates (5 – 7 February)!

As you know, we were so sad to cancel the much-anticipated Ingeli Mountain Marathon due to the extended Level 3. So we are thrilled to have been able to identify a new date, Saturday 31 July 2021, to host the event! A winter event could pose some very exciting weather conditions (it has snowed on the race weekend in the past) and we will grab every opportunity to get into the mountains with two hands!

While we cannot host a large gathering or event, the opportunity to get onto the trails and into the mountains is too good to refuse! So we will be hosting an informal Mountain Weekend at Ingeli Forest Lodge on the original race dates (5 – 7 February)!

If you are keen for a mountain escape and to engage with like-minded trailists, this promises to be a fantastic weekend!

Andrew, Lauren & family will be there, social runs happening (3km – 20km marked trails available) and Andrew will be guiding a group through the 40km route.

There is no extra charge for the running, just book your accommodation at Ingeli via the link below. The Comfort and Deluxe rooms are spread out across the lodge property and are great for couples or families, with some rooms having 2 double beds (Sleeps 4).

We can’t wait to connect with you in a casual setting and a beautiful environment!

Rhino Security Patrol

Ranger Patrol at Manyoni

This important project has been on the back-burner for some time, but 2021 is going to be the year in which Ranger Patrol (the on the ground arm of Ranger Protect) get off the ground.

Ranger Patrol offers the unique opportunity to get into the bushveld together with the reserve Rangers, spending 2 nights camping wild in the Manyoni Private Game Reserve in Zululand. Days will be spent running / trekking with the Rangers on anti-poaching patrol and where opportunities present themselves, getting an insiders look at what it takes to manage our wild spaces (animal releases etc). The final night will be spent at Zebra Hills Safari Lodge, a beautiful haven within the Reserve.

We have prospective dates available for the first offering from 22 – 25 March 2021.
Costing R6900 per person, this includes a R1000 donation to Ranger Protect, food, accommodation (2nights camping, 1 night at the stunning Zebra Hills), reserve and guide fees.

If you are interested, please email andrew@kzntrailrunning.co.za. Groups will be up to 8 and we encourage you to book as a group so that participants can control their exposure.

Visit www.rangerprotect.com to find out what the greater project is all about.

March looking hopeful!

The trend of the line in the graph above is looking good for a move to level 2 (c’mon President Rhamaposa…) and a resumption of KZNTR events.

We have been engaging with the S.A.A.M.E.S. committee regarding submitting Level 3 protocols for approval by the Minister of Sport, but in the meantime, we are holding thumbs that the trajectory continues to decline and that we can resume in March!  🤞🏼
