CASCADES THIS SUNDAY.
Cascades Trail Run This Sunday. Flowing Trail in the Heart of the City.
Based at the Cascades Lifestyle Centre, it is trail running without complication. Safe parking, great coffee, proper facilities, and within minutes you are on real trail. Forest, singletrack, and space.
Over the past few days we have been hard at work preparing the routes. Summer brought strong growth, and much of the trail needed to be reopened. Grass has been cut back, lines cleared, and sections reshaped to bring back that cool, flowing Cascades style. What awaits this Sunday is fresh trail that is running beautifully.
Mmeli Ndimande will be there with the Inanda team, bringing some of the strongest and most exciting trail running energy in the province. It is always special to have them on the start line and Mmeli on the Mic.
After prize giving, we will be holding the first official KZN Trail Running Club meeting.
All runners who are interested in joining are encouraged to stay. This will be the moment where the club will be formally introduced and ratified, and it marks an important step forward in building a stronger, connected trail running community in KZN.
Whether you come to run, to connect, or to be part of something new, this Sunday matters.
Join us.

Drakensberg Northern Trail
There are some trails you run, and there are some trails you answer.
The Drakensberg Northern Trail is one of those. A journey through the high places of the Berg, across passes, escarpment edges, and quiet spaces that very few people ever get to experience on foot. It’s not just an event. It’s a crossing. A commitment to moving through big country under your own power.
Over the years, the DNT has earned a quiet reputation as one of South Africa’s most respected mountain journeys. It asks for patience, resilience, and presence. In return, it gives perspective, connection, and memories that stay with you long after the legs have recovered.
Many within our KZN Trail Running community have run this escarpment, have felt the scale of those mountains, and have come back changed in small but important ways.
If it’s been on your mind, this is your moment.
Entries for the Drakensberg Northern Trail close this Wednesday.

Kruger2Canyon Challenge – Where Mountain Meets Bush, and Runners Meet Themselves
There is a moment on Mariepskop, usually early, when the Lowveld is still covered in cloud below you and the escarpment feels like the edge of the world. It’s quiet up there. Big. Honest. And that’s where the Kruger2Canyon Challenge begins.
From 26–28 June 2026, trail runners will gather in Kampersrus for one of South Africa’s most iconic stage races. Two days that connect the high mountain and the wild bushveld in a single, unforgettable journey.
Day 1 is the mountain day. Mariepskop. Blyde River Canyon. Climbing into thin air, into views that stretch forever, into parts of yourself that only show up when the trail gets steep.
Day 2 is the bush. Moholoholo. Warmer. Faster. Alive. Buffalo country. Leopard country. The kind of terrain where you run differently, aware that you’re not alone out there.
You can choose your challenge. 70km, 44km, 30km or 20km over the two days. But just as importantly, this is a family style event. There is a kids zone at race village, a relaxed 5km fun run, and distances that make it possible for everyone to be part of the weekend. Families come not just to watch, but to belong. To share in the experience together.
It also falls right in the school holidays, which makes it the perfect anchor for a family trip. Many runners bring their partners and kids and turn it into a full Lowveld adventure, with the Kruger National Park just down the road. Run the mountains and bush, then slow it all down with a few days of wildlife, winter sun and time together in one of the most extraordinary places in the world.
For us at KZN Trail Running, K2C has always been more than an event. It’s home ground. It’s the meeting point of mountain runners, bush runners, first timers and veterans. It’s the stories shared afterwards. It’s the fire, the dust, the tired legs and the full hearts.
Late June is a special time here. The air is crisp. The grass is golden. And the trails are waiting.
