TWO APRIL EVENTS. TWO DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES
12 April Orcas City Trail in Durban
19 April Valley View Trail Run in Richmond
Both are open now, and launch specials are live.
ORCAS CITY TRAIL
12 April 2026 | King’s Park Athletic Stadium | Durban
Something new is unfolding in Durban this April.
As part of the Orcas Ultra Marathon, which returns after a successful inaugural edition, we are proud to introduce the Orcas City Trail. This is a collaboration between Orcas Academy, Prodigal Kumalo and his team, and KZN Trail Running.
Starting and finishing at the iconic King’s Park Athletic Stadium, this is trail running with a city heartbeat. Expect a fast, energetic route linking pathways, stairways, green belts and urban flow. It is a fresh and exciting addition alongside the road ultra.
This partnership represents something bigger than a single event. It is about building trail running within the city, creating opportunity, and working alongside Prodigal Khumalo and the Orcas Academy to grow the sport from the ground up.
Entries are now open, and for the next 48 hours the launch special is live.
VALLEY VIEW TRAIL
19 April 2026 | Valley View Farm | Richmond
A week later, we return to one of the most beautiful farms on our calendar.
Valley View Trail Run takes place on Saturday 19 April, hosted by Mike Woodburn on his citrus farm overlooking the Umkomaas River.
The trails here are something special. Flowing farm tracks, river views, climbs and descents that feel carved into the landscape, and that unmistakable sense of running somewhere private and wild.
Just 20 minutes beyond Richmond, it is an easy drive from Durban and Pietermaritzburg, and well worth the early start.
This year, for the first time, you can camp on the farm the night before.
We have opened just 20 camping spots, available as an add on when you enter.
It is simple and authentic.
Camp on site at Valley View Farm
Basic ablutions available
Tree showers for comfort
Bring your own tent, food, and equipment
Wake up at the venue and roll straight onto the trails
Camping fees are minimal, but space is limited.
It is a small addition, but one that transforms the experience completely.
Entries are now open with the normal 48hr special!
ENTRIES ARE OFFICIALLY OPEN FOR THE UMDONI 100 MILER 1 & 2 August 2026
This is a race that captures everything that makes coastal trail running special. Indigenous forest, beach running, flowing singletrack, rocky sections, jeep track, ocean views, tides and that unmistakable smell of the sea. Every lap delivers a complete experience of the landscape in one continuous rhythm.
At the heart of the event is its unique loop format. A 13.4 km circuit that 100-mile runners complete twelve times, and 50-mile runners six times. It might sound simple, but it changes everything. Your crew is never far away. Support, nutrition, encouragement and pacing are always within reach. You’re not alone on a distant mountain — you’re part of a living, breathing race village, surrounded by fellow runners, friends and family.
The fully contained, fenced venue also makes it safe through the night, creating the perfect environment for those stepping up to the 100-mile distance for the first time, or for experienced runners chasing something new.
If the idea of running 100 miles has been sitting quietly in the back of your mind, waiting for the right moment, this may be it.
This is more than a race. It’s the beginning of something special on the South Coast
