New 2021 Calendar, Ranger Patrol bookings open & Karkloof Backyard Ultra

Restarting 2021 in March

Dear Trail Runners & Walkers,

While we patiently wait for the next update from our Government regarding the National Covid Status, we have been very busy! We don’t have a direct line to the President, but are feeling confident that a change to Level 2 will be announced soon and have been planning accordingly.

We were feeling FOMO with having cancelled may of our favourite events early in the year, so have reshuffled our calendar, starting in March 2021! Have a look at the full calendar via the link below, but the snap-shot view of March looks like this:

06 March 2021 – Drakensberg Northern Trail
14 March – Rocky Bay
21 March – Blythedale
28 March – Zululami Seaton

We are ampt to kick-start 2021 on the Coast!

See you on a trail soon,
Lauren, Andrew & the KZNTR Team

Rangers are the boots on the ground in ensuring healthy ecosystems – the first and last line of defence protecting our wildlife. Working in the African bush is not for the faint-hearted. Protected areas in Africa with high value species such as rhino and elephant have become war zones where armed contacts with poachers are a frequent occurrence.
It is therefore of great importance that rangers receive all the support necessary to perform their duties within these challenging environments across Africa.

You could donate to Ranger Protect and provide a SATIB policy to our frontliners – it’s a great way to get involved….

OR you could take it one step further. Join a Ranger Patrol and meet these Rangers and engage with the work do on a daily basis. Spend two nights out under the African Skies, running/trekking between fly camps, showering under a tree, cooking over fire, having conversations with the people that perform these extraordinary duties on a daily basis. Accompanying them on some of their duties.

Part of your booking fee goes towards paying for a SATIB Ranger Protect policy for rangers in the very reserve you will visit.

Some fitness is needed to take this on, but it’s not a running race and distances can be adapted.

Book one of our first Ranger Patrols – you won’t regret this experience of a life time!

If you have any questions, email Andrew (andrew@kzntrailrunning.co.za).
