Blythedale Trail Run
10 March 2018
Start time: 7:45 am | Walkers Welcome
Water tables: 1 table en route.
The short course winds up through the dunes surrounding the start / finish among tall forests. The second half descends back down to the start finish, taking in sea views between the trees. The route is largely sandy single track and the start / finish venue a spectacular picnic site below the shady Flatcrown trees.
Start time: 7:30 am | Walkers Welcome
Water table: 2 tables en route.
The course exits the picnic site onto the beach for 1km, before climbing through the dunes onto a contour road. This road undulates, parallel to the coast, before turning inland along the edge of the mangrove-lined lagoon. Runners will climb up to a higher contour road that meanders through plantations to a viewing platform, with a breath-taking 180deg view up and down the coastline. The final few km descend through the forested single track back to the spectacular picnic site below the shady Flatcrown trees.
Start time: 7:00 am
Water tables: 2 tables en route.
The course consists of lush indigenous coastal forest trail, estuary and mangrove swamps, a bit of jeep track through open sugar cane fields and a beautiful section of beach.
The venue for this event is the scenic picnic site at the Blythedale Coastal Estate, set in the shade of the Waterberry trees. With the beach just over the dunes, this is a perfect setting for a day out.
Pre-entries close at MIDDAY on Friday, 8th March. Late entries will be available on the day of the event but at a R50 surcharge (U18’s exempt).
Registration and late entries will open at 6:00 am through to 7:30 am. Please arrive with plenty of time to process your registration.
KZNTR KidZone will be available for Children (2yrs+). Experienced childminders will allow parents to get out and enjoy exhilarating trails by distracting (and watching over) the little ones with stimulating and fun activities at the Race Village.
As KZNTR is moving toward the more ecologically friendly cupless water tables, we ask you to please ensure that you bring your own trail cup, water bottles and/or hydration packs for on course hydration and refills!
