An emotional adventure...
Dear Trail Runners & Walkers,
It has been almost a month since we sent our last mailer. A strange and unusual occurrence, that’s leaving me feeling lost for words. Where and how to pick up the conversation. Because when you speak to someone regularly, there is always so much to say! But after a hiatus, there seems too much to know where to start…
So much has happened within KZNTR.
Resting, restructuring, relocating.
Sanele has picked up the reigns at the helm of KZNTR’s day-to-day operations and Dane has taken over the admin role. Mmeli has moved to a freelancing position and you will still see & hear him regularly on the mic at events
Such capable people, that I am so grateful to have the opportunity to work alongside. Give them a shout-out and high-five when you see them or exchange emails!
My Dad, Colin, has taken over at the coalface of KZNTR Merch. A Conveyancer by trade, he has boundless energy and humour and is loving his role as he approaches formal retirement. So pop over to say high to him at the next race. You might even get some legal advice for free!
And us. My family. We have spent the Festive Season packing and sorting. Discarding and making decisions. Making changes. Saying goodbyes and letting go. Finding new ways & places.
It has been exciting, heartbreaking, emotional. Literally and figuratively, a journey. We are travel-weary, but stronger, braver, more resilient.
As a creature of habit, it is hard not to rush through the process, so that I can get to where I am going and settle into new routines. This has been a good reminder to slow down and make the most of the process:
“Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.”
~ Greg Anderson
Just like a trail run, the adventure is the attraction, not the end point.
See you along the journey,
Lauren & the KZNTR Team

Start 2023 at Rocky Bay this Sunday!
The first event of the Coastal Series and the year, Rocky Bay, conjures pictures of a silken ocean, a pink sunrise, and great running!
The terrain is a mix of farm roads, jeep tracks, and flowing single tracks. The routes move through rustling sugarcane, drainage lines, and dense indigenous forests. The roads and purpose-built trails make for good footing, but watch out for sneaky roots in the forests!!
We always get a good kick out of Rocky Bay, and this Sunday promises similar -community, coffee, and trail stoke!
