Mountain Marathon Series 2022
The Mountain Marathon Series 2022 has been laid out and we are excited to launch this series, a collection of KZNTR’s pinnacle races…!
The series entries open tomorrow – Friday 19 November with a 4for3 or 5for4 special.
In other words, you get yourself a free event when entering a series package!
*Note that this excludes the MMS Final which is a roving race that will take place on the first weekend of November annually. We are in final negotiations with the venue for 2022 and will be announcing it VERY soon! We think it will excite a few people…
This is how the 2022 Series will work:
Finish 3 of 5 events to earn your place on the leader board, which will be updated after each event. The top 6 men and women will then receive an invite to the final and have a shot of winning the grand prize of R5000. Each MMS event also carries a winning prize of R1000 for both men and women competitions.
We will also recognise Age Catergory winners for the first time in 2022 with sponsored prizes.
Accommodation is not included but can be booked through the KZNTR website. Camping and Dorm Style accommodation are often available, but it is venue dependant.
Individual race entries are already open for DNT. Mnweni entres will open at 10am on 24 November 2021. We will be opening up the rest of the race entries subsequent to that. Each Marathon Course (40k) is limited to 250 entrants, with priority given to Series entrants.

Lion's River Trail
The Lion’s River Trail starts & finishes at the quaint Lions River Trading Post, which is nestled alongside the bubbling river and across from lush pastures, it is the most tranquil setting!
The trail is certainly runnable and quick times were posted in May this year when we hosted this event for the very first time. But come prepared for a few climbs and the occasional rocky and grassy section!
The onsite River Cafe serves up lovely coffee and tasty food, just to round off the experience!
