"Somewhere between the bottom of the climb and the summit is the answer to the mystery – why we climb." – Greg Child
The allure that mountains pose to a trail runner is undeniable and the 6Th edition of the Drakensberg Northern Trail is the perfect answer to that longing!
DNT is about challenging yourself, pushing the boundaries and finding yourself with a new mindset as you cross the finish. It is not meant to be easy, will test you beyond a doubt and it has a strange way of pulling participants back to the start year on year.
Let 2020 be your year to conquer. Give yourself the chance to stand on top of a mountain, to experience what a few privileged mountain runners have in previous years and what many more continue to be drawn to.
DNT has a great family vibe, with the shorter distances opening up the event for whole families.
Accommodation is booked directly through the venues – they sell out fast, so book early to avoid disappointment!
Rooms at Phatt Chef or Chalets0 and camping at Windmill Farm.
Take your leap of faith with DNT 2020, give yourself a chance to experience the raw beauty of mountain running…

Protecting those who protect what we love...
Yesterday Andrew and the Ranger Protect team kicked off the first Ranger Patrol Recce by getting out into the bush and experiencing what our dedicated Rangers experience.
It’s a raw experience, something that is needed to put into perspective what this amazing group of individuals do and how they do it.
But why? Why should we concern ourselves with this?
A big part of this project is to get people out into the bush, bringing them closer to the reality of what a ranger’s duties are.
Walking, running and experiencing it on the ground alongside Rangers.
Assisting with their duties and getting a better understanding of what it takes to perform their roles as rangers and protectors.
The increasing danger associated with being a ranger has necessitated a push to raise funds for protecting those who protect our wildlife.
Do your part, spread the word, help us to raise awareness and to make a difference in their lives.
Their safety and peace of mind = continued protection of our wildlife.
Follow them on Twitter: @ranger_protect, Instagram: @rangerprotect and Facebook for updates from the ground!
