Dear Trail Runners and Walkers,
The first stirrings of excitement are brewing… Entries are open for the WILDSERIES Golden Gate Challenge, powered by KZN Trail Running!
Taking place this October in the Golden Gate Highlands National Park in the Free State, this multi day staged event explores some of the country’s most beautiful mountain landscape; traversing restricted areas of the Park which are rarely open to the public.
The best of the ‘red mountains’
The event poses a serious challenge to participants. This is mountain running at its finest – the terrain is imposing and the air is thin! But just as the effort will take from you, so will the experience give back. The rewards of running through this stunning environment are magnified by the very tangible sense of accomplishment achieved by taking on a challenge of this magnitude.
Gratifying too, is the knowledge that funds raised from the event will be used for the conservation efforts in the Park through WILDLANDS’s conservation partner, SANParks.
New race options
2019’s Golden Gate Challenge sees the introduction of fantastic new entry and accommodation options, as well as the choice of shorter distances on Day 1 and Day 2.
These changes mean that there is incredible flexibility around the structuring of a participants race weekend, also making the event that much more accessible to a wider range of athletes.
Don’t miss out on the fantastic 48 hour opening special that will be available until 10am on 14 March. You will be able to secure the 3-day runners only package for only R2000 or the 2-day runners only package for R1500!
See you in the mountains,
Andrew, Lauren and the Team
