In 2019, the iconic WILDSERIES Three Cranes Challenge goes into its 10th year. The 2019 edition sees an exciting re-launch as the WILDTRUST and KZN Trail Running enter into a fantastic new partnership for the series, starting with the Three Cranes Challenge.
In celebrating this milestone, some fundamental changes will be taking place that aim to create greater accessibility and flexibility around the structuring of the race entry packages. This includes the introduction of a new 2 day option taking place on the traditional Day 2 (Saturday) and Day 3 (Sunday).
Shift in consciousness
It is no longer possible to host these events in a “business-as-usual” mindset. With changing economic times, it has been necessary to rethink the format of these events to keep them viable and relevant.
It is also no-longer feasible for humanity to continue in a business-as-usual fashion in the way we consume everything around us and the original vision for the WILDSERIES is critical – “to expose the public to some of our unexplored, incredible natural heritage, as well as raising vital funds for conservation”.
We need to start doing things differently and as a team, we hope that the event will impact on the trail community, open eyes to new ways of doing things and capture imaginations.
Same good feels, same GREAT trails
With all of this in mind, we will be bringing an intimate, craft feel to the race village. We don’t want these events to be something that take participants away from their families (unless you need some “me-time”), but rather an event that can be experienced together. You can expect locally sourced, gourmet food and beverage options as well as opportunities throughout the weekend to soak up the heart and soul of the Karkloof Valley, through the eyes of the locals who know it best.
And for those of you who have a history with the Three Cranes Challenge, out on the trail nothing has changed. You can still expect the very best that the Karkloof has to offer!
