EVENT Details
With trails opening up under level 3 we are able to offer an incredible opportunity to all those willing and living in KZN to explore the forests surrounding the Karkloof Canopy Tour just outside Howick.
Its important that you see this as an opportunity to explore as well as race. As always KZNTR will cater to the different objectives and levels of runners,walker and hiker. For those wanting to race the course and challenge themselves we will run a leaderboard for a specifically marked 10km “racing route” . For those wanting to explore there will be options, extra loops, waterfalls and views for days.
It’s not so much about the distance you spend out there are is it the hours, which is a place like this can be many! So come and join us, its just about getting out there!

Course Description
We have laid out a 10km course for those who want to test themselves against the mountain and appear on the leaderboard and results. Its challenging with around 350 metres of climbing.
For those just wanting to explore there are a number of options that start with the Kids Explorer at 500m. The Caracal trail is 1.5km with some climbs and descents, but still relatively gentle.
At 2km the Woodcutters trail is only slightly longer but a lot steeper. But the real deal lies in exploring your way all the way to the Waterfall and Giants Ridge which involves some steep climbing seen on the FB video.
By exploring the full range of trails and opportunities a maximum of about 20km can be accumulated.

Karkloof Canopy Tours is a very family friendly venue with some short forest trails with interesting things for the kids to see and do as they explore the wonder of the outdoors. Bring a picnic, as only a few take-away items (including filter coffee)will be available.
NB – The actual canopy tour slides are still closed. The ticket is for access to the newly established trails only.

From Howick travel on the Karkloof Road for about 18km and turn left onto the dirst raod marked to the karkloof canopy Tour. Follow the signs from there.
