The Flaming Flamingo event will be making its debut this new year’s eve and unlike KZN Trail Runnings’ other events, this event does not have a predetermined distance. Instead, the time is fixed at 6-hours where you will get to see how far you can run/walk in the final hours of 2019. In keeping with the theme of the race, the event mirrors the social behavior of the elegant flamingo flocks as family and crew will always be within 800 m at any given time.
It is here that runners can really have their own experience, whether it be for fun or to push to new limits with a new 1.72 long course at Lifespark that is perfect for those wanting to get their first (or hundredth) Ultra. Run as many laps as you can and you will have a chance at earning yourself a 1 lap, 5km, 10km, half-marathon, marathon or ultra finishers’ badge/cookie! With the casual nature of the event, you can run as many laps as you want and as hard as you want, take as many breaks and for as long as you want. As such, there are no DNFs at Flaming Flamingo! Participants must, however, leave for their final lap by 11:50 pm to ensure everyone finishes by 11:59:59 pm for the lighting of the flamingo.
*Please note that no real flamingos will be harmed at this event.

Kids pump track is also available. KidZone will provide mattresses for children.

A fully stocked aid station will be provided at the start/finish area and Seasons Café will be operating until the end of the race. You are also invited to set up your own crew station for a more personalised experience. Trail Shed will be at the event selling all your trail needs and accessories.
