Next up: Coastal Series Blythedale, Golden Gate entries closing and a note from Andrew…

Forest birds and sea air – Coastal Series Blythedale is coming!

Welcome to the second stage of KZNTR’s Coastal Series 2019! The beauty of Blythedale where the trails are shaded, the sea breeze refreshing and the soundtrack a combination of waves and forest bird calls!

A choice of 6km, 12km and 20km, the next coastal challenge will take you through coastal forest, plantations, estuary and mangrove swamps, but don’t underestimate the challenge of the soft sand working your calves!

Although the 20km is a solid test in the often-humid weather, but it is well-rewarded with views throughout the route. The medium and short courses are more welcoming if you’re looking for an “easy” morning out on course. Bring your whole family and soak up the peaceful environment on the 6km route.

With the race village set-up in the heart of the Blythedale Event Bowl, where you can expect fantastic facilities and awesome offerings – drinks, tasty food, sports massages and exciting lucky draw prizes!

The KZNTR KidZone will be available for those too young to get onto the trails.

Will you join in the fun this Sunday, as we take on another coastal challenge?

Andrew's Latest Project

I am trying to shift my personal direction in trail running to projects more related to the environment and sustainability. To lead me back to being on the ground, which is something I miss from my earlier days in trail running.

One of these is Ranger Protect, lead by fellow trail runner, Andre Du Toit.

Part of this project is about getting people out into the bush – walking, running, experiencing it on the ground alongside Rangers. The opportunity to help and gain a better understanding of the effort required to perform the roles of rangers and protectors.

The first reece is happening from 22-24 October 2019, and for the FIRST time a slots are being opened to the public to join us. There are only 5 spots are available, and if successful, the experience will become a permanent offering in future.

It’s an exclusive experience taking place in the Manyoni Private Game Reserve. The experience will cost R9500.00 and will include 3 runs/patrols in the Big 5 Reserve, a night in a small tent in the bushveld with basic facilities, and the last night in luxury. Great food, company and vibe while experiencing a Big 5 reserve from the perspective of a ranger.

All funds are allocated to direct expenses and the Ranger Protect project.

Please email me (andrew@kzntrailrunning.co.za) if you are interested.
