Booths bid farewell to KZNTR
Andrew & Lauren move on from KZNTR Dear Trail Runners and Walkers, It is hard to put into words the impact that KZNTR has had on our lives. Something grown
It goes without out saying that we have a special attachment to the venues at which we hold KZNTR trail runs, but a handful of them just mean that much more to us.
Table Mountain is one of those for so many reasons. We have been staging trail runs here almost since KZNTR’s inception and have formed a close relationship with the local community. The goodwill of Chief Mdluli allows for us to be able to showcase this spectacular area for all trail enthusiasts and adventure seekers!
MYSTICAL
Located just outside Pietermaritzburg, Table Mountain is steeped in folklore and is sacred to the community who live in its shadow. Over the decades, the mountain has watched over as cannibal tribes moved through the area, a mythical giant snake consumed anything or anyone who built structures on its top and in more recent years, as political factions fought for control over the area.
The venue for the third and final event in the Winter Series, it is also an ecological gem, featuring sinkholes, wetlands draining into waterfalls and sunken forests.
A CALL TO ACTION!
Mcoseleli Secondary School
We will be creating an opportunity for everyone to support the school we use as a venue for this unique race. It is under-resourced and the headmaster has asked us for school desks. So, with your assistance, we hope to donate as many desks as possible.
Wildlands are able to supply desks (delivered on the day of the race) made out of recycled plastic at R1200. We have already had a number of
KZNTR regular runners pledge a desk, and KZNTR will pledge 4 to get the ball rolling.
It’s as simple as adding the desk as an item to your basket when entering a KZNTR event. We realise that this is a big ask of any one individual, but if you are keen to contribute we might suggest that groups and friends club together towards a desk with one representative in the group actually making the online purchase on behalf of all. Let’s see how many desks we can accumulate for our host venue, Mcoseleli Secondary School at the base of PMB’s Table Mountain.
Qadi Athletics & Inanda Trail Running Club
A number of you have also reached out to us recently wanting to assist runners from the Qadi Athletics Club and the Inanda Trail Running Club who have so much talent, but so few resources. We will be doing an official shoe and kit collection for these Clubs at the event.
