The inaugural Ballito Rush at Sugar Rush Park on the Holla Trails network was a hit with heavy rain leading to some thrills, spills and epic wipeouts! The night stage was a first night running experience for many, all of whom found it exhilarating and are keen for more! The day stage was held in typical Ballito weather – hot & humid with the thick mud making runners sweat for every metre gained. Well done to Steven Stott for winning the overall Long Course event in 3hr44min and all participants!
We are planning to grow the Ballito Rush as an entry-level stage race for those keen to take the next step in their running, but aren’t quite ready for the AfricanX!! The results are available HERE and some great pictures have been posted onto the KZNTR Facebook page (/kzntrailrunning), with a video clip to be released shortly!
Thanks to our hosts, Sugar Rush and Holla Trails and a huge thanks to our sponsors, Thule, Funky Pants, NatureZone and IslandTribe!
Our next event moves to the south coast for the Scottburgh Trail on 10 April – check it out HERE.
See you on the trail!
