Kenneth Stainbank Castle Trail
6 January 2019
‘Coedmore Castle’ is a historic building dating back to 1875 situated within the green lung of the Kenneth Stainbank Ezemvelo/KZN Wildlife Nature Reserve in Yellowwood Park, and is a magnificent setting! Although the Castle has been left to the State, the family has retained responsibility for its management and upkeep.
The family has worked with the Wildlife authorities to develop both running and MTB trails within the Reserve and these are now well established as some of the finest trail routes within easy reach of greater Durban.
The event will offer three courses: an accessible 5km run / walk; a challenging 10km run for more experienced athletes and a long course of +/- 15km which will take in areas of the Reserve not normally run in and will be technically challenging.
A portion of the proceeds from the race will go towards both Ezemvelo / KZN Wildlife for allowing us to use their trails and also towards the upkeep of the Castle.
Pre-entries close at MIDDAY on Friday, 04 January. Late entries will be available on the day of the event but at a R50 surcharge (U18’s exempt).
Registration and late entries will open at 6:00am through to 7:30am. Please arrive with plenty of time to process your registration.
KZNTR KidZone will be available for Children (2yrs+). Experienced childminders will allow parents to get out and enjoy exhilarating trails by distracting (and watching over) the little ones with stimulating and fun activities at the Race Village.
As KZNTR is moving toward the more ecologically friendly cupless water tables, we ask you to please ensure that you bring your own trail cup, water bottles and/or hydration packs for on course hydration and refills!
Tours of the fascinating castle will be available for runners, their family and friends. One at 8:00am and another at 9:30 for only R20 pp. For more information contact Jenny at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 083 419 6428.
