The short course winds up through the dunes surrounding the start / finish among tall forests. The second half descends back down to the start finish, taking in sea views between the trees. The route is largely sandy single track and the start / finish venue a spectacular picnic site below the shady Flatcrown trees.
The course exits the picnic site onto the beach for 1km, before climbing through the dunes onto a contour road. This road undulates, parallel to the coast, before turning inland along the edge of the mangrove-lined lagoon. Runners will climb up to a higher contour road that meanders through plantations to a viewing platform, with a breath-taking 180deg view up and down the coastline. The final few km descend through the forested single track back to the spectacular picnic site below the shady Flatcrown trees.
The course consists of lush indigenous coastal forest trail, estuary and mangrove swamps, a bit of jeep track through open sugar cane fields and a beautiful section of beach.
There will be 1 water table on the short course and 2 water tables each on the medium and long courses.
NOTE: As a part of the global movement to reduce single-use plastics and treat our environment with respect, KZNTR water tables will now be cupless, so please bring your own trail cup, water bottles, hydration packs for on course hydration and refills!
