ULTRA DISTANCE RACES

Compulsory Gear
On Ultra Courses

There are no frills and fuss at URR, just great trail, camaraderie and in URR tradition, master brewers providing craft beer for those who care to carbo-load post-race!

Going into its’ 8th year The uMngeni River Run is about embracing the quiet bush and trail running in its purest form and now takes place from its’ exciting venue, WESSA uMngeni Valley Nature Reserve! This venue allows runners to experience the best of their favourite pristine WESSA and Hilton College trails in the uMngeni Valley.

It’s rare that these elements come together so close to a city centre, but the URR offers an opportunity to escape and reconnect on the web of trails alongside the uMngeni River! With 10km, 25km, 50km and the newly added 75km ultra distance, there is something for everyone.

The 75km event will be especially appealing to those looking for greater distance and/or night running experience and training. Perfect preparation for Karkloof100 and SkyRun later in the year!

This is a highlight on the calendar for us at KZNTR, being one of our longest standing events and where we can get back to basics. So spend the day with us enjoying pristine trails in a relaxed game reserve setting.

Compulsory Equipment: 50km and 75km participants must carry 2l hydration and a cell phone. 75km participants must additionally carry a headlamp and thermal/waterproof layer  (weather dependent). Additional hydration and cell phone in a waterproof pouch highly recommended for all participants.

There will be water tables approximately every 10km stocked with a variety of sweets, chips, peanuts, coke/energade. Please note that the water tables are cupless so be sure to carry your own cups, water bottles and/or hydration packs.

Pre-entries close at MIDDAY on Friday 09 August. Late entries available, but R50 surcharge applies (U18’s exempt). Registration & late entries on Sunday from 1:30 am until 7:30 am. Please arrive with plenty of time to process your registration!
